How I got my new blood type
A personal word in advance. – As a recipient of my voting tips, you may have noticed how sparsely my e-mails had fluttered into your inbox last year. Yes, I had taken some time off – even if not entirely voluntarily. In case you're curious to learn more about the background, read my review.

It was a bright day in June 2015, when I had just taken part in a study at the University Hospital Salzburg and, after half a day of extensive health checks, sat across from the doctor in charge at the final meeting. For several years, the "Paracelsus" study the state of health of the Salzburg population. He praised me for exemplary values from lungs and heart to liver – and then said: "Only, Mr. Fischbacher, we have to take a closer look at this one value!"
Two months later, it was clear that a biochemical process had derailed in my hematopoietic system due to a "spontaneous gene mutation", completely unnoticed by my dazzling general condition. In "this very special juice", my blood, there were a threatening number of platelets swimming.
"At the moment, Mr. Fischbacher, this can be adjusted with medication" said my attending physician in the clinic and looked at me briefly and examined, as if he wanted to assess how openly he could talk to me. "In the long term, however, your illness is life-threatening!"
Perhaps you know stories of such moments from your own experience or from your circle of friends. After all, my doctor hadn't said "cancer", but no matter, even though I had never heard the name of my disease before and have a lot of faith in modern medicine – after "life-threatening!" I felt a good adrenaline rush. "Interesting", said the communication coach in me: "He has now conveyed the message surprisingly openly and clearly. And I took note of it surprisingly soberly."
The decisive news electrified me a bit: "In about two years, the right time is for your only cure, a blood stem cell transplant."
While I worked from autumn 2015 to autumn 2017 held countless seminars, gave lectures and supported coaching clients, preparations for Day X were running in the background. The day of the transplant. About the International donor database a suitable donor was found in Berlin, an essential prerequisite for the success of the treatment.
At every subsequent pharmacy visit, I thanked the Austrian social security system. Never again will I mock high contributions in conversations with colleagues. Did you know that there is a separate term for particularly rare diseases? And a dedicated action plan for the development and financing of drugs for this "Orphan Disease" ?

Photo: Shortly before the transplant, I had recorded videos and webinars in Berlin for the marketing launch of my online academy. I had clearly underestimated the time of my convalescence. The "Voice-sells!-Academy" is now starting as the highlight of my 20th anniversary year in May 2019!
On November 5, 2017, the time had come: I checked in at the KMT department of the University Hospital Graz. Ten days later, "Day Zero" was to clarify whether the blood stem cells of the anonymous Berlin donor would be welcomed by my organism – and whether I would survive the procedure. That sounds very dramatic now, but it corresponded to the naked medical facts.
What exactly is meant by the term "blood stem cell transplantation"? I will spare you the details of the treatment, but this much can be said: In the first nine days, the recipient is prepared for the transplant. By means of special chemotherapy, the patient's own blood production is destroyed, instead of which the new stem cells are to work later. At the same time, the immune system is reduced to almost zero so that the donor cells are not rejected. All this takes place in a hermetically sealed hospital room with special ventilation, entry to the department is only possible through an airlock, doctors and nurses wear breathing masks. What I have learned as a voice coach from these weeks, in which the voices of people spoke to me whose faces I could only see their eyes, I will report on in a next blog post.
On day 10, the day of the transfusion , the tension was already palpable in the morning: Early in the morning, my donor in Berlin had offered his valuable stem cells by blood washing. With blue lights, the cool box with the two infusion bags went to the airport, with blue lights the Graz ambulance rushed from the airport to the clinic. Around 1:00 p.m. the time had come. Under the scrutiny of all the doctors involved and connected to countless beeping sensors, I received my life-saving cells by infusion.

Photo: The hair was still on ... Snapshot from the first days in my hermetically sealed room at the University Hospital Graz.
Many of you know that I have been working with natural healers ("curanderos") from the Peruvian Amazon lowlands for more than two decades and have learned a lot about natural medicine from them during my travels. However, this will never stop me from appreciating the seriousness and research achievements of modern medicine. I was able to see how more than twenty years of international experience flow into a single treatment. The methodological competence, the know-how, but also the human warmth that I experienced during my stay in the clinic made a deep impression on me.
In the weeks before my stay in the clinic, I had made many organizational arrangements for my long absence. I was aware that as a self-employed service provider, I would not be able to make any sales for months. In order to survive economically, I therefore reduced costs at all corners and, particularly painfully, ended the employment relationship with my long-time assistant. It's interesting how many cherished things, habits that have become self-evident and apparent requirements you can part with when things are really serious.

Photo: It was a special experience to stroll along the Salzach for the first time in late summer 2018 without a protective breathing mask in the hustle and bustle of the arts and crafts market.
With four months of absence for health reasons of seminar rooms, lecture halls and coaching studios. I had cancelled all appointments arranged long before and experienced a lot of understanding from my customers, for which I would like to thank you once again! But already during my six-week stay in the Graz clinic, I realized that this assumption was far too optimistic. It was not until September of last year that I was recovered enough to take the first tentative steps back into the profession. But once again, an infection brought me back into quarantine. Only now, at the beginning of February 2019, do I return to my usual life after a fourteen-month interruption, completely healthy and strengthened again.
It does not go unnoticed by you: Since I can tell you personally about my experiences today, the Graz team around Prof. Dr. Neumeister and Dr. Huber-Krassnitzer has done wonderful and successful work. My organism has absorbed the new blood stem cells without resistance, they have found a place in my bone marrow and now supply me with healthy blood, just as if nothing had happened.
Only my new blood type A0 will remind me of the dramatic hours, days and weeks in the Graz clinic for the rest of my life.
Now I am looking forward to everything we will experience together around voice and performance.
You

Hello Mr. Fischbacher! For me, it gave me goosebumps when I read your report. Thank God that a donor was found. I am very happy that you are doing well again and at the same time admire today's medical possibilities. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart.
Best regards,
Martina Moosleitner
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
from the bottom of our hearts: congratulations on another birthday in your life! It must have been a really hard road, and I am very happy with you that everything went so well and successfully. When I heard your lines, I immediately had to think of the impressive book by Guido Westerwelle, in which one can begin to guess at the problematic course of treatment.
All the best for the future!!
MR
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
I have fond memories of your voice workshop at Lake Wolfgang and wish you lasting health and a successful new start after your time out!
Best regards and all fute for you

Dear Arno,
It's nice that you can be active again. It's really unbelievable what you had to experience. So it's all the nicer that we still have you among us. So I'm all the more happy when we see each other again in Valencia at Club 55. Of course, I hope that you can come too.
Warm greetings from Switzerland
Jörg Eugster
Dear Jörg,
Valencia is already booked! 🙂
Greetings and see you soon,
Arno
Dear Arno, as the 2nd chairman of the AUSTRIAN VOICE INSTITUTE, but above all as an old friend, I am moved and grateful that you want to and CAN continue to make your positive energy available to us!

Thank you for the very personal and moving report.
I am very happy that you are hopefully doing well again in the long term and send my best wishes!

Dear Arno,
You've been through a lot. It is all the nicer to have you healthy among us again.
I wish you the very best for your future work, joy and health. You have success anyway.
Dear Arno,
thank you for publishing your story and giving COURAGE to others.
It's nice that you are actively shaping your life again. I still think often about our coaching today. At that time, you gave me valuable impulses for me as a speaker.
Best wishes
Antje
Dear Arno,

All the best.

Dear Arno,
Thank you for your report, your courage is admirable and a great example of true vitality, just as great is the respect for the medical achievement. Wish you all the best, Evemarie
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
even though we have never met "live" before, I have always followed your activities with interest, and learned a lot from your videos and from your newsletter.
Thank you very much for that!
I am very happy that you are doing well again, your story has moved me very much... without words... All the best in your new life, success, satisfaction and health.
Best wishes
Kathrina Hof
Hello Arno, first of all, all the best and congratulations for the exertions you have survived. When we were allowed to attend your absolutely professional rhetoric seminar in Salzburg in autumn 2015, I noticed one or two worry lines in your facial expressions, now I understand why. Despite this heavy load, you gave 150%, thank you for that. In retrospect, my heart attack 12/2015 seems to me only as a small scratch, I was not quite as strong as you and retired from business life in 2017. From Thailand I wish you good luck and health as you start again.
Dear Arno!
Michaela forwarded your poignant story to me, welcome back to life! 🙂
Thank you for communicating this phase of life to the outside world, otherwise the dark sides of polar life get too little attention, especially in the virtual world... Compliment!
All the best for your upcoming activities and projects, best regards
Christoph
Dear Arno,
Your NL has just completely surprised me or what I read in it...
And now your personal report. You touched me very much, I was able to sympathize with you through your lines and pictures... I am so happy with you that you are back in your self-determined life! How wonderful. What joy, what a gift!
Live and enjoy, go on!
See you soon!
All the best,
Tim
Dear Mr. Fischacher,
From the bottom of my heart I wish you all the best and above all good health.

Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
Thank you very much for your report. It's nice to read that you're doing well again. Welcome back!
A friend of mine went through something similar in 2018, but unfortunately it didn't end well for him.
I am all the more pleased that the blood stem cell transplant was successful in your case.
All the best and I am always happy to read from you.
Barbara Danzer
Dear Arno,
Your report touched me very much. I wish you the very best from the bottom of my heart, a lot of strength and joie de vivre on your future path!
All the best Patricia
Dear Arno,
your words touch me very much. I had no idea when I asked you for an appointment in September.
I am happy for you from the bottom of my heart that you have survived all this so well. Cheers to your new blood type!
Take care! And thank you for your great support!
Alexandra
Hello Mr. Fischbacher, WOW!! A contribution from her life that gets under your skin. They continue to have a lot of strength and health for their projects and goals. Personally, I always incorporate the voice exercises into everyday life, which I took with me from your presentation at direct sales. Kind regards Thomas Spandl
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
what a story. I congratulate you on your 2nd birthday. And yes, it is truly advisable to let alternative and conventional medicine coexist and gratefully accept the blessings of both directions.
We met briefly once in Bad Aibling. Her presentation was a very special pleasure.
I wish you stable health with your new blood type and the very best.
Best wishes
Iris Sedran
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
Just yesterday or the day before yesterday I saw a TV report about the insufficient number of stem cell donors and thought about registering and getting tested. Your fate, your story encourages me to actually do this.
And I congratulate you on this very, very positive turn that your life has taken.
I wish you strength, verve and endurance for your 2nd start.
All the best and best regards
Klaus Zöttl
Dear Arno, I am particularly pleased that this unfortunate episode ended so well. Kind regards, Claudia
Dear Arno!
How nice to read about you and feel your zest for life.
We can be lucky to live in a country that offers us such opportunities.
A friend of mine was successfully transplanted 22 years ago and since then I have been in the register of stem cell donors.
All the better when you have found your donor and can start the new year happy.
Happy 2nd Birthday and I am looking forward to many inspiring moments from and with you.
Good health, joy and happiness to you!
All the best Martin
Dear Arno, congratulations and all the best! Although it's already February: happy new year – 2019 will be your year! Cheers to medicine – but also to you. No doubt you yourself have contributed a lot to your recovery. Kind regards, Karin Buttenhauser
Dear Arno,
Your deeply personal and open report left me speechless. Thank you for sharing yourself. Tell me, tell us. I am also moved by the touching >thank you< to the doctors, the team and, and.
At the same time, a lot of emotions were triggered. Speechless... because I can't find any words that could even remotely express my sympathy. Emotions and compassionate thoughts – as far as it is possible for me – because the "extent" of your experiences exceeds my "horizon of experiences" – but I would like to send you as a small gesture in this way. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart. May your new blood type be a new loyal friend to you. Atmospheric greetings from the north, Esther
Dear Arno,
the look back on your last year is full of heavy and elusive feelings ... The view of your now and your future is full of confidence and sun-drenched light. I wish you health from the bottom of my heart and all the best for everything you plan to do in the next 50 years ...
Heartily
Elfy
Dear Arno,
… I wish you that you are all the more intense and with even more joie de vivre ... and now more than ever... you can continue to live your life.
LG Maximilian
Dear Mr. Fischbacher, thank you very much for your personal story about this demanding phase of life. Never give up, always be hopeful, don't let yourself be dissuaded by others, be confident – that sounds so simple, but it's so important in such concrete situations. Where does this inner strength come from, as it certainly was for you? Every person has a strong power in their deepest core that enables them to get through such situations well. With the right doctors and contact persons and this inner strength, as much is possible as I have experienced.
I wish you that you will now experience the beauties of life even more consciously and feel a reassuring gratitude for this new life, best regards, Eva Weissenbacher.
Lieber Arno, fühle Dich umarmt, alles Liebe Frieda .Ich freue mich so.
Dear Arno,
I am very happy that you are doing well again and thank you very much for the insight into this critical phase of life. I wish you health, joie de vivre and fulfillment and of course success for your quasi second life.
Best regards Roswitha
Dear Arno,
I am especially happy to hear from you, and I am even more happy about your path to recovery!
It always shows a special greatness to report on what has been experienced, let alone when it comes to health!
I wish you all the best for your comeback and good health, that you can continue to fulfill your mission,
Sincerely
Katalin
Dear Arno, welcome back to the activity! I am happy with you about your recovery and wish you a good time. Thanks for the report. Kind regards, Albert
Dear Arno,
It's nice that there are guardian angels and that they have found their way to you. You more than deserve it. We know each other through the GSA training as well as from seminar visits and I remember you very much because of your appreciative way of meeting people. I wish you a good time back to life. How nice that you are (re)born. Kind regards, Ute
Dear Arneo Fischbacher, it was only today that I took the time to read your detailed and personal report in its entirety. I congratulate you on your courage and congratulate you on the successful treatment! Even if we don't know each other personally, let me wish you further, healthy stabilization months from the bottom of your heart without the pressure of having to/want to push too much on the professional tube!
Spring greetings from Witten by Silvia Grünitz
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
I have only read your report today and I simply have to write to you. Although we only met briefly twice and do not know each other very well, I am so happy that you are feeling better again after the long course of the disease.
I wish you all the best for your new life. Feel life! Enjoy every day! We humans do this far too little. Work and everyday life are behind us. Yoga always reminds me how important it is to indulge in nature, beautiful moments and tranquility. Silence also has its language.
Greetings Monika
Hello Arno
Dear Marion,
Thank you for your kind words! You speak from my soul – despite my many years of personal involvement with Amazon medicine and herbal medicine, one thing has been clearly confirmed to me: Without research and research funding (especially with regard to rare diseases), I might not have survived the trial. It's that simple.
Greetings from Salzburg,
Arno
Dear Arno,
I wish you all the best, a lot of strength and great that you are back!! Thank you for your open words about what happened to you, that certainly gives other people in the same situation a lot of courage!!
all the best and good
Peter Ultschnig
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
I am quite impressed by what you write here. Yes, of course, I was surprised that I heard little/nothing from you. I also inquired in the HoJ... It's great that you're doing well again. I am very happy!
Best wishes!
Dear Arno, all the best!!
LG Erich Habesohn
Dear Mr. Fischbacher,
this report made a deep impression on me and showed me once again how quickly life can change.
Since you are a "stand-up man", you will carry out your next coaching sessions and hold your training and voice training workshops with new strength, energy, verve and a very special understanding of the precious life.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you for a nice, positive, fulfilled and healthy time.
With warm greetings from Bonn – Your Petra Weyers
Dear Ms. Weyers,
Thank you very much for your kind words!
And, yes, I agree with you, such experiences as I have had in the last two years also give my work a whole new depth and experience.
A warm greeting from Salzburg to Bonn,
Yours, Arno Fischbacher
Dear Arno,
I finally get around to commenting here. This article and your "time out" at the time impressed me very much. You show very impressively what it means to get into a life crisis – to go through it – and to emerge stronger from it in the end.
Thank you for sharing it with us here. As a doctor, I can roughly judge what it looked like inside and around you.
You are sure of my great respect. You already 🙂 had it before, but now it has become bigger.
Best regards from the deep south of Ukraine to Austria and a nice third Advent weekend.
Hans-Dirk Reinartz
Toi Toi Toi, lieber Arno! Herzlichst, Andi
