To put it bluntly: Do you make yourself heard at all? Or are you one of those people who fall completely silent in meetings in the face of the eloquence of some colleagues? Do you have an opinion, very good ideas for the project being discussed? But, before you get around to clearing your throat briefly and summon up the necessary courage to speak, three colleagues have already explained their own ideas at length and in detail ... And the boss is already moving on to the next item on the agenda.
Another chance missed. You sink back into your chair and think: "Then don't stop!"

Not having your say can hinder your career
Are you aware that that this "then just not" can massively hinder your career in the long term? The colleagues who are heard dig themselves into the mind of their supervisor as those employees who are active, who are "there", who work and help to shape. Your supervisor is not even aware that you are the efficient cog behind the security of your desk that keeps this project alive and advances it due to your continued silence. If this corresponds to the facts of your everyday professional life, then it is high time to adopt new patterns of behavior here!
How to have your say effortlessly
It's very easy with this tip! You simply imagine that you are the Coachman on the coachman's box of your life. At the next meeting, you choose the moment when you take on the role of coachman very, very carefully. Before speaking, switch to the coachman's seat:
- When the moment has come when your input is due, push your chair forward and release your back from the back of the chair!! No, you don't get up, you stay seated. But this movement attracts attention.
- You will automatically have all eyes on you. This may be unusual and unpleasant at the beginning, but you have to get through it!
- Before you start talking, turn off your autopilot and switch to body awareness – feel yourself muscularly. Straighten up, consciously make contact with the ground. You will immediately experience that now – as a result – let go of the shoulders. Your elbows and breath now have more space.
- Speak now! Immediately, your voice will sound powerful, clearer, deeper and more motivating. And in the room, after these powerful first words, you are sure to get your attention for quite a while.
Try it in the next meeting! You will love the difference and start looking forward to more rides on the carriage box.
Yours sincerely,
Arno Fischbacher
