Here in my hometown of Salzburg Traditionally, the Day of the Voice always means a question. Namely, the question: "Who can do it louder?". The Everyman's Call. The "Play of the Dying of the Rich Man" by Hugo von Hofmannsthal is in (high) season every year from July onwards and attracts crowds of people to the cathedral square. And then you resound again from various places, such as the tower of the Franciscan Church, the mystical, echoing, goosebump-inducing Jedermann shouts ... Only extremely vocally fit people can be entrusted with this role. The Jedermann callers are chosen accordingly carefully.
This year, the already legendary "Jedermann-Ruf für Jedermann" will take place at Salzburg's Grünmarkt on Saturday, April 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Anyone who passes by can test his or her vocal presence with a fervent "Jeeeeeeermaaaan!" in the Jedermann call tent in Salzburg's old town. Start: 10.00 a.m., duration: approx. two hours. At this point, many thanks to Dr. Josef Schlömicher-Thier, head of the "Austrian Voice Institute" and family doctor of the Salzburg Festival, who has been accompanying and supporting this great initiative for years.
Come to Salzburg and maybe become the Everyman's Caller 2015! In this way, you will achieve an impressive vocal overall result: Take a firm stand and vividly imagine where exactly your voice should carry your far-resounding call. Only across Universitätsplatz? Up to the Mönchsberg or even up to the heights of the Kapuzinerberg on the other bank of the Salzach? Form a bell with your hands and imagine that you yourself are a giant mouthpiece. Let your voice swell. Shouting instead of screaming is the motto. This avoids pressure and narrowness of the voice and lets your "Jeeedeeermaaann!" fly voluminously and broadly over the city.
