As a voice expert, I was invited a few days ago to speak as part of the groundbreaking "Reden. Present. Inspire." congress for the first time in 3D. This extraordinary online congress took place – for the first time in the German-speaking world – in the metaverse, this new technology that is currently almost shrouded in mystery.
My experiences from the speaker's perspective
I was particularly interested in the dangers and opportunities that this new way of communicating in virtual space has for us as speakers. So what you should pay special attention to if you want to use the 3D environment of the metaverse for your presentation or speech.
The fact that the Presenting in a video call the effect of the voice is decisive for your success and your result, the last few years have probably shown that clearly to everyone. Monotone Way of speaking is annoying, Blurry or Hectic Speaking destroys the best content. Too fast speaking speakers lose their listeners after just a few sentences if nonstop is spoken, you lose track of things after a very short time. In the 3D environment of the metaverse, in this initially quite overwhelming flood of impressions, it is even more worthwhile than ever before to Power of the Voice their importance.

How to make your presentation a success in the metaverse
-
Use your voice to create an emotional connection
When speaking in the metaverse, it's important to use your voice in an accentuated way to create a direct connection with your audience. Always remember to talk not only TO them, but WITH them. This means that you should enter into direct dialogue linguistically in order to involve your listeners in the best possible way. My urgent recommendation is: Speak while standing! In this way, you convey more liveliness and appear not only body language and gestural, but also vocally infectiously alive. Since you are also visible to the viewers on a screen in the metaverse, pay attention to the image section. When you are visible as a whole person, you appear small. I therefore recommend showing only your upper body, this will make your gestures work well. And pay attention to the sound quality! As in a video call, viewers are much more likely to forgive limited image quality than bad sound.
-
Be concise
Since people are now used to consuming information quickly online, it's important to keep your presentation in the metaverse brief. Get straight to the point and don't try to cram too much information into a presentation. If you have to cover a lot of fabric, you should divide it into smaller chunks and perform it in several sessions.
-
Use your avatar wisely and strategically
One of the peculiarities of presenting in the 3D space of the metaverse is your presence as an avatar in the auditorium, while you are visible on the screen as a speaker or speaker. This is useful because you can see the room and screen from your avatar's point of view on your screen. Therefore, before the start of your lecture, place your avatar in the last row of the lecture hall so that you can see the whole room on your screen. This allows you to perceive the other spectator avatars and their reactions while speaking. You'll be surprised how this unusual overview strengthens your sovereignty and gives you a pleasant spatial effect of your voice provokes.
My conclusion:
Overall, presenting in virtual reality brings both challenges and opportunities. As a speaker, it's important to be aware of both so that you can get the most out of this new format. With careful planning and consideration, you can use the metaverse to deliver truly unique and engaging presentations that will leave a lasting impression on your audience.
