Do you talk for more than three hours on some days? If you've nodded inwardly, then I say: "Welcome to the club!" Because then you clearly belong to the "heavy voice users", i.e. to the top voice athletes.
The question is: What do you do to ensure that your voice remains fit and efficient in action? For an athlete today, it is completely natural to complete the obligatory warm-up training before the race. Is it the same for you before important conversations or Appearances ?

How to keep your voice fit, powerful and expressive
Incorporate individual elements of the following warm-up exercises into your everyday life. Train according to the 3-2-1 formula:
- 3 movement zones
- 2 sensory channels (hearing and body awareness)
- 1 awake brain
How does a Warm-up training that also fits into your daily routine, into your schedule? Put together your personal short program from the following offers!
Voice is audible body language, so activate balance and gestures
Think of the 3-2-1 Formula and start with physical warm-up exercises. First of all, it is the core muscles, i.e. what ensures your "good position" and confident gestures.
- Dance to the music
- Shake out your shoulders
- Do a little hula hoop round
Afterwards, enjoy how good it feels physically.
To speak intelligibly means to speak articulately
For clear articulation, you need the Muscles in the face and mouth . These are your tongue, lips, cheeks and chewing muscles. With this short Warming-Up Speaking Immediately easier to understand:
- Shake out your cheeks, lips and jaw with pleasure and loudly
- Snort unabashedly like a horse
- Turn your motorcycle to full throttle with a grand gesture: "Brmmmmmm!"
Wake up your vocal folds in the larynx
Pleasantly pleasant humming humming should round off your physical warm-up program:
- Stand tall and imagine you're standing on a moving train or bus. Feel the shift in the center of gravity and the elongation of your neck.
- Zoom elongated on "Mmmmh!"
- Imagine a pleasant large, soft ball of air in your mouth, puffing up your cheeks. Begin to follow it in large motions with "Mmmmmmh!" chewing around.
Enjoy how your Voice always fuller and more voluminous Sounds.
Sharpen your senses
Do you want to consciously experience and control your voice, your gestures and your body language? Then you should be able to experience the result of your activities awake. Two senses in particular serve as "measuring instruments":
- Your sense of body makes you feel : "How do I stand? Where is my focus? Is my neck erect?"
- Your hearing listens and listens : "Does the tone of my voice change when I move? Sounds my Voice thin or pleasant full?"
Your warm-up exercises can only be repeated and thus have a lasting effect if you also sharpen your senses. More and more often, the otherwise unconscious expression of your Voice and body language consciously become. In this way, you will gradually gain charisma and vocal awareness.
Where is a good place for your warm-up exercises?
At first, make sure that you are protected and undisturbed. Close the doors and make sure you are unobserved. Once you have the Immediate effect of your vocal warm-up rounds, you will be more confident in dealing with them.
Do athletes apologize for your warm-up program? On no account. Even the running cameras do not interfere. Take this as an example. Or read here, how my Swiss colleague Jörg Eugster amazed me during his performance in Graz.
I wish you every success in all your conversations, in all your presentations. And stay healthy.
Yours sincerely,
Arno Fischbacher
