"What can I do so that my nervousness in my voice is not so audible?" , is a frequently asked question in my seminars. The catch is: If you suppress or hide your feelings, you usually achieve the opposite: Your fellow human beings perceive at least subliminally that you want to hide something, that you are not entirely sincere.
Wanting to suppress nervousness increases tension
They may even be more focused on finding out what exactly you're trying to hide than on what you're trying to tell them. Therefore, it makes little sense to hide feelings or intentions and pretend otherwise. They then seem rather ambivalent, confusing and are no longer congruent.
Therefore, address sensations or feelings in a targeted manner:
- "The fact that I can speak in front of such a large audience today makes my heart beat faster ..."
- "I have the feeling that we are going round in circles at the moment. Do we want to take a short break?"
This shows that you are paying attention to what is going on. And that you take your feelings and those of others seriously. Her Voice it will thank you and respond promptly.
Her voice works. Voice sells!
